Welcome to the Swirlfest Surfskate Contest 2024! This manual will provide you with all the essential information you need to know about the contest, including the judging criteria, awards, rules, guidelines, and format.
Contest Overview:
The Swirlfest Surfskate Contest is a competition where riders showcase their skills, creativity, and style on surfskates. Participants will be judged based on the following criteria:
a. Speed-Power-Flow (40%): The smoothness, power, fluidity, speed and rhythm of your run.
b. Style (30%): The unique flair, creativity, and personal expression exhibited in your performance
c. Technical Difficulty(20%): The complexity, creativity, and execution of tricks and maneuvers.
d.Effort (10%): The overall effort, energy, and enthusiasm demonstrated throughout your performance.
The contest is for Adults (over 15). There will be two categories:
Each contestant will have two 45-second runs to showcase their abilities. The best run out of the two will be counted towards their final score. This format provides an opportunity to showcase different approaches and strategies while allowing participants to give their best performance.
USE OF A SURFSKATE IS REQUIRED FOR ALL PARTICIPANTS. All surfskate brands are welcome but the use of surfskate style trucks are required. Carver will provide a limited number of demo boards for contestants to use in the event that they do not have one.
Awards - Adult Categories:
At the end of the contest, the following awards will be presented to the participants:
a. Overall Best Skaters: The Top 3 skaters with the highest cumulative score across all judging criteria will receive these awards. It represents the participant who demonstrates exceptional skills in all aspects of the contest.
b. World's Okayest Skater: This award will go to the participant with the highest effort score. It recognizes the skater who puts in tremendous effort, energy, and passion into their performance.
c. Rippingest Skater: The skater with the highest technical difficulty score will be honored with this award. It celebrates the participant who showcases the most challenging and awe-inspiring tricks.
